Magic Winx Stella, Digital Coloring

....Soooo, firstly, right off the bat, here, I already know this isn't all that great. Way ahead of you, here. Those who've watched me throughout the years have already learned from me time and again that by comparison to Traditional artwork, I have about... 10% 'experience' with Digital artwork. ^_^' I am a Traditional Girl all the way, grew up with it (drawing and watching/experiencing), personally prefer it, etc. Even still, besides all that, in summation, we must remember this point always: I simply blow at doing digitally based artwork. Period.

I've never honestly bothered to try it, seriously (before right now), once again, primarily because of my personal reasons stated (and also honestly because it just never crossed my mind to, since in terms of coloring, I'd only recently started doing THAT seriously/at all back in 2008, after always doing nothing but graphite pieces - Which, as another thing those who watch me are aware, has always been my utmost favorite type of artwork since childhood ). However, I thought I'd give it a shot, finally, purely because my wonderfully wonderful Numbah 1 'fan,' my hubby, had recently surprised me with a Wacom Bamboo tablet for our 3rd year wedding anniversary back in May. ......Da lurves. (For Graham, not the tablet, although it so far isn't too bad at all. )

His reason for it was just a shrug, his typical baby faced smirk, and a brief, "Well...why not?" ........This guy. ~_~'

And so, after a few months of having it and not having enough time to sit down and further tinker with it, I finally snagged enough time the last few days to just...test myself, really, more than anything else. By that, I mean, just starting out small, and, in this case, find a random coloring page online and, well, colored it. LoL

I didn't honestly choose Winx Club, specifically, Stella, here, for any other reason simply other than for the fact that at the time I was sitting down to use my new (and still very much unexpected ) tablet, I was busy handling Winx Club related group submissions.

Anyhow, I know the original coloring page face is different to my finished page, but that's because the reference I was using for the colors, here, www.freewebs.com/winxie_fan_of… , was slightly different. Very slight, honestly, and it was just the nose, a tiny bit, and the small glint within her eyes, placement wise. Other than that, I did also make her eyes a little bit more full, with also a little bit more detail to make them 'pop' some versus both the original coloring page (obviously ) and the reference. Eyes are my absolute favorite part to do for any drawing. Always, always. And if ever I fudge those up...I'm pretty much done. ~_~ LoL But no, seriously. Honestly, if the eyes are messed up some, then it really can take away from the overall piece at times, in my opinion...and also concerning my own works. LoL

But, yeah. Methinks now that I have 'successfully' finished my very first digital piece (well, coloring) start to finish, while it was neat for the most part, I'm definitely still more partial to doing it traditionally. ^_^ Like my sister's boyfriend just said to me in an email about it a few hours ago: "Nothing beats drawing from good ol' old school pencil and paper." (Again, for me, personally. Oh, and he, as well, since he's also an artist. ) However, that doesn't mean I won't attempt something like this again in the near future, though, and maybe even drawing my very first digi-drawing soon after, as well. Yay!

...Wow, I'd babbled on for long enough, haven't I? Need to go sleep, now. ^_^'

I'll probably go and post WIP side by sides so you can all enjoy my descent into madness in trying to get things 'just right' (or, in my noob case, as not too atrocious to gaze upon ).
